As the sun sets over the breakwater at the end of St Kilda pier, Little Blue penguins begin to come out of hiding.
Little Blues are the smallest members of the penguin famly. The 400-meter St Kilda breakwater is home to a colony of over 1000 of the protected species. Every evening the penguins return to their nests after a day foraging for food at sea.
With their deep blue markings, the tiny seabirds blend well into the breakwater’s rocky crevasses.
